Jackie Mitchelle

Have you heard last week on April 1 1931 was the biggest game of the year! The Chattanooga Lookouts were going up against the New York Yankees.  Can you guess what the Lookouts had a GIRL pitcher! Also can you guess what happened she struck out the two greatest baseball players! Babe Ruthe and Lou Gehrig. Babe Ruthe batted first, he swung and missed the first two balls the third was a ball, so the last pitch he didn’t swing but it was a strike. Next was  Lou Gehrig he swung and missed the first three pitches. Finally Tony Lazzeri was up and got out too. I guess you could say this girl has and arm. This amazing girls name is Jackie Mitchelle, the first girl to play in baseball!

Taxes

Today we are learning about taxes like the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a tax that made the colonist pay for any piece of printed paper.  Also the Tea Act was a tax too, they made the colonist buy tea from only on company, the East India Company.  The only reason they made the taxes were so they could get the money from the colonist to pay off the war depts . To the colonist it wasn’t fair so they did things they thought would stop the taxes. But it only stopped most of them.

Favorite 2014 Memory

In 2014 my favorite memory was when I hit a home run in softball. I was up to bat, the pitch was good I  swung and ran.  It went down the third base line.   The girl at third tried to throw me out but she over threw it.   So as fast as I could , I ran to second, rounding the corner. Running to third I tried to get there before the ball did.  Just when I thought I was going to get out, third basemen missed the ball!  I ran home thinking that the ball was in the out field but they had thrown it home.  Finally I crossed the plate just as the ball flew over my head.  That was an awesome day!
