Family Christmas

His face, bright pink with tears running down, showed not tears of sadness, but tears of joy.
I wonder if my Dad expected this from my grandad, even on Christmas. Though he knew he would love this gift, my Grandad focused on the paper my Dad gave him for a moment.
“Do you like it Dad?” my Dad asked. “What is it?” Grandad replied squinting his eyes and adjusting his classes. My family snickered. My Dad looked over and saw the paper upside down then reached over to turn the paper.
“Dad, it’s your new golf bag Eric and I are getting for you, that’s what it’s going to look like. Look it even has the Pizza Hut logo on it.” My Dad responded still laughing and pointing at the paper.
My Grandad bear hugs my Dad so tightly he could barely breathe, with the biggest, brightest smile I’ve ever seen on anyone. Then I realized that even little things can change someone’s day.

No One Knows

No one knows what I know

But me

I can see colors listening to music

But no one knows

That there are many things I wish to say

But I can’t

No one knows

But me

Many things fill my mind

That I want to say aloud

But they’re all stuck inside

So no one knows

But me

Maybe if someone tried

They could know me

But no one has

No one knows

The girl on the inside
